Mr. Malina is a leading strategist in legislative advocacy campaign management, with more than 16 years of experience utilizing direct lobbying, grassroots communications, and coalition building tactics to impact major public policy decisions. His successes include:
- preserving the nation’s commitment to competitive wholesale electricity markets
- expanding the role of nuclear energy in serving the nation's electricity demand
- reforming the Postal Service to better protect the interests of first-class and small-volume mailers
- maintaining the viability of hydroelectric power
- securing federal approval of the largest rail merger in US history
- securing passage of NAFTA implementing legislation
- obtaining significant federal funding increases for university-based science research.
Mr. Malina oversees Wexler & Walker’s public and external relations and integrates client needs with the global strategic communications network of Hill and Knowlton, the firm’s parent company.
Mr. Malina formerly served as a political aide to Representative Nita Lowey (D-NY) and was an Associate at Austin-Sheinkopf Communications, a New York City-based media relations firm.
A former professional actor, Mr. Malina appeared in numerous television commercials, Off-Broadway, and regional theater productions.
A cum laude graduate of Yale University with a B.A. in Political Science, Mr. Malina is a frequent guest lecturer at the American University’s Washington Semester program and Washington College of Law.
