VICKI A. MAY
|
A specialist in grassroots and coalition development, Vicki May has been
instrumental in building national and state-level coalitions for a diverse range
of Wexler & Walker clients. Ms. May has developed coalitions on issues ranging
from international trade, energy, transportation and legal reform to science
research, crime victim rights and support for mental health services. Ms. May’s
areas of expertise include issue development, legislative strategy, coalition
outreach, grassroots management and strategic planning.
Ms. May has extensive political experience at the federal and state levels and
on Capitol Hill. She served as a Reagan Administration appointee at the US
Department of Justice, where she worked closely with the criminal justice and
crime victim groups during the establishment of the first Office for Victims of
Crime. Ms. May was a staff assistant to Senator Connie Mack during his tenure
in the US House of Representatives.
A native of Ohio, Ms. May served as Legislative Liaison for the Ohio
Department of Mental Health. She was instrumental in the movement that
split the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation into
separate cabinet-level agencies and the legislation that created the state’s
community mental health and retardation boards.
